ABOUT GOLDEN STEP SCHOOL

Proprietor's Welcome Message
The school was founded and established in May, 2007 by a young couple, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Atiah. The school is located at Balungu in the Talensi District in the Upper East Region along the Bolgatanga – Tamale trunk road near the Customs barrier.
The school started with 36 students (9 boys and 27 girls) in a one classroom block. With the ultimate intention of making the school a boarding institution, the students were accommodated in a newly constructed three-room dormitory.
The initial teaching staff were the couple who are both educationists and some qualified staff from Bolgatanga Senior High School. At the time of the inspection, the school was in its second year and had student population of 104 (38 boys and 66 girls).
The school rose to a total student population of three hundred ten (310) in 2015/2016 academic calendar. The student population however dwindled since the introduction of free SHS in 2016. This is due to the fact that government schools are now admitting almost all students with grades as low as 53. Golden Step just as any other private school is virtually left with nothing to admit hence the decline in numbers.
The school had an accreditation to write May/June WASSCE Exams in 2012.
(Golden SHS gets accreditation).
The school presented 170, 138 and 99 students for the 2013, 2014 and 2015 May /June WASSCE exams respectively. Since then we have been working harder despite the decline in numbers. Since inception our lest pass rate is 51.17% and our highest is 98.22%
Despite admission challenge we role out candidates every year. We now have past students in many institutions. others too are working now.
The school however started crèche, day care, primary and JHS in September 2012 to cater for the short fall in the SHS.
Mr. Robert Atiah
